Frenzy takes you back to the Summer of 1984 before Bournemouth's Hard Summer Ball with Kym Ayres, Frisky, & Clodhopper

Tuesday 3rd July 2007

Back in 1984 a couple, but not all, of the Frenzy Crew were eight. We reckon it was the best summer ever and have fond memories of those times so thought we'd share five special memories with you in advance of the Bournemouth Hard Summer Ball where we have Clodhopper from Fusion, Tidy's Kym Ayres, and Frantic's Frisky headlining for you.

1. White dog shit.

You just don't see it anymore but it used to be such an integral part of our summer's growing up. A day wouldn't pass when you wouldn't have to swerve past some on your BMX in order to avoid some nasty kick-back to your mate behind.

2. Riding your bikes like you're in CHIPS.

This was wicked, basically involved riding your BMX next to your mate just like Poncherello and the other dude used to do in the TV programme. The experience was typically enhanced by attaching a piece of card to the frame of your BMX with a peg so that it clipped against your spokes... result... instantly makes it sound like a Harley.

3. The dodgy neighbour that lived alone.

And also seemed to be an expert on anything. You wanted to be Zorro, he'd make you a sword... you got a puncture, he'd fix your bike... you hurt your knee... he'd want to be your uncle. Not sure what ever happened to him, mum said he had to go away on holiday somewhere.

4. The ice cream van.

As soon as you heard his tunes go off it was the signal to go completely mad... bit like a Cheeky Scott set at Frenzy. Typical favourites included the Screwball Scramble, Cherry Brandy, and the infamous Witch's Hat, which was basically two treats in one. Quality!

5. Being a trainee pyromaniac

Melting holes into your Star Wars figures using a magnifying glass when the sun was at its peak... this of course quickly progressed into sadistically burning ants and other creatures that were too slow to get away.

So... the question is, will this summer be any better than 1984? We reckon it could be, and an integral part of guaranteeing your summer is truly memorable is to make it to the Bournemouth Hard Summer Ball... by Frenzy. Details below!
