Are the Frenzy crowd truly hardcore?
As this was Frenzy's first monthly party of 2007 in our Empire Home, we were wondering if the Frenzy clubbers were going to be taking it easy tonight and not spending too much energy. After all, New Years Eve was quite a mad one, and coupled with the Slinky madness last week, who was to say if everyone was really that hardcore?

The Empire Strikes Back
But we weren't disappointed! As usual the Frenzy massive came down in their party gear and rocked the Empire one more time. As way of easing people into the party we had Carl Phoenix playing his funky selection of tunes on the middle floor, ably assisted by Destiny's Si Topia. This gave everyone a chance to say hello and grab a couple of drinks before making their decision of 'upstairs or down'? Those that headed south into the deep dark recesses of the Empire basement, were met with Jo Jo on the decks who got the party going with her tough hard house sound.

Return of the 9 Bar... back with full effect
After Jo's hour, Big Al Medino stepping up to the stage and continued where she left off. And yes, he did play OD404's 9 Bar in case anyone missed it! Alan plays real party music, and had the basement jumping up and down in his usual style... in fact he was probably jumping up and down more than anyone!
Big Al Medino was really happy with his Christmas present
He came, he saw, he legged it
Cheeky Scott came in a little bit later than usual and took the party up just to the next level with his trademark sound and 'enthusiasm' behind the decks... he had just got over being in bed for a week with some deadly virus so we can forgive him for not being able to stick around for too long. If you see him about this week give him a Lucozade and a hug.
Frenzy clubbers come in all colours, shapes, ages, and sizes
When darkness falls, Frenzy calls
Next up after sick boy was Daina (aka Jon Merrit) for the one until two slot. Jon upped the tempo and got things just that little bit faster, and even found time to get some of his own records into the mix which were received really well by the Frenzy crowd! He even had time to wipe all the lipstick off his face too..

Camper than a row of tents
The last hour of the night was passed over to our Funky Frenzy resident, Carl Phoenix. Carl's traditionally a hard house DJ so it was really good to see him get back to his roots! He learnt his trade as a hard house DJ in gay clubs, so it was no real surprise to hear the style he played on Friday night. It was uplifting, a little bit vocal, sometimes camp... but above all very danceable!

Are You All Ready?
As the time drew near to put a halt to proceedings and stop the madness, it was time to cue up the last tune. A firm Frenzy favourite, Are You All Ready by Tony De Vit (at least I think that's what was played... if I'm wrong please correct me as was somewhere else at the time!) was pulled from the bag and spun to the end.

It's fair to say that Frenzy's first home fixture of the year was not a chilled out affair... it was anything but! Next Frenzy dates are room two at the Firestation on Saturday with Andy Whitby and 12 Inch Thumpers. Check our event listings for full details.
