The Bournemouth Hard Summer Ball will probably be remembered for a number of reasons. Firstly it meant a welcome return of hardcore to the Empire Club courtesy of those crazy kids at the Hardcore Marrows. It also heralded a new dawn of decor, making the basement finally look like a venue worthy of the line-up and antics that clubbers have grown to expect from a Frenzy event.

The theme for the night was of course summer, and thankfully the weather held out which meant the smokers could take advantage of the Empire Club's outside area. Keeping things hot down in the basement was proving pretty easy too as Frenzy's favourite son, John Black, made his basement debut. Well done chap... he rocked it and we'll be seeing him again no doubt! Next up was another of our future heroes, Bryn. Again he didn't disappoint so we hope to see more of him too soon!

As if the basement wasn't already whipped up into a storm already, next up on the decks was Frenzy friend and Tidy Girl... Miss Kym Ayres. Whilst Kym was entertaining the basement we had local hardcore promotion, the Hardcore Marrows doing their faster style on the middle floor to great acclaim. It seems like a pretty good match might have been made now with their hardcore and scouse sounds, and the Frenzy hard house so watch this space!

After Kym's basement hard dance action we had a big moment in Frenzy history as the man who created Frenzy all those years ago, Big Al, stepped up for his last ever DJ set. Obviously it goes without saying it was an emotional moment for him, but that didn't stop him from cranking out his signature style of tough bouncy hard house with his partner in crime, Daina. Cheers for the memories Al, you will be missed!

Following on after that was always going to be a tough act, so who better to do that than one of our favourite ladies and Frantic hard trance DJ, Frisky. Frisky had impressed us all so much at the Old Firestation earlier in the year when she was on our line-up with Anne Savage and Cally Gage that we thought we'd best get her back down again... and impressed us even more this time!

What came next was a bit of surprise as Welsh hard style legend Juice, from of course, Cally and Juice offered to play an impromptu set... he was at Frenzy, he had his records... so who were we to refuse! And the dancefloor certainly didn't mind.

All in all a cracking night. The next Frenzy date is Elastic vs Frenzy with Andy Whitby at the Empire Club on the 9th of September. We're chilling in August we think! The Hardcore Marrows and Clodhopper will again host the middle floor. To find out more check our events section. More news very soon!
